Bio-sketch

Raj Senani was born on March 14, 1950 at Budaun, UP. He obtained B.Sc. in 1966 from Lucknow University, B.Sc. (Engg.) in Electrical Engineering in 1971 from HBTI, Kanpur, M.E. (Electrical Engineering) with Honors in 1974 from MNREC (now MNNIT), Allahabad and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering for some of his independent research on the `Realization of Some Classes of Active Networks` in 1988, from MNNIT, University of Allahabad.

Dr. Senani held the positions of Lecturer (1975-1986) and Reader (1987-1988) at the EE Department of MNNIT, Allahabad. He joined the ECE Department of the then Delhi Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1988 as an Assistant Professor where he became a full Professor in 1990. Since then, he has served as Head, ECE Department (1990-1993, 1997-1998), Head Applied Sciences (1993-1996), Head, Manufacturing Processes and Automation Engineering (1996-1998), Dean Research (1993-1996), Dean Academic (1996-1997), Dean Administration (1997-1999), Dean Post Graduate Studies (1997-2001) and Director, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) during June 1996-September 1996, February 1997-June 1997 and May 2003-January 2004. He served (third term) as the Head, Division of ECE from 2000 to 2014, as Dean, Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi, during July 2011-July 2014 and as the Director of NSIT, from October 2008-till December 2014.

After his superannuation on 31st March, 2015, he was re-employed as a Professor Emeritus, in the Division of ECE, NSIT from April 01, 2020 to 31 March 2020. Concurrently, he had also been working as an Adjunct Professor for NIT, Patna. With effect from June 08, 2020, he has now been employed by the NSUT as an Honorary Professor in the ECE Department.

Professor Senani's areas of teaching and research interest are Current-Mode Circuits and Techniques, Bipolar and CMOS Analog Integrated Circuits, Active Circuit Analysis and Synthesis, Analog VLSI, Modern Filter Design, Analog Signal Processing, Electronic Instrumentation, Chaotic oscillators, Memristors and other mem-elements and Implementation and Applications of Modern Electronic Circuit Building Blocks. He has authored/co-authored over 175 research papers in refereed international journals- which have received (as per Google Scholar) over 6000 citations with an h-index of 44 and i-10 index of over 125 so far.

He has authored/co-authored 05 Books (Research Monographs)- three of which have been published by Springer, namely, `Current feedback operational amplifiers and their applications’, Springer Science+Business Media, New York, 2013; `Current Conveyors: Variants, Applications and Hardware Implementations’, Springer International Publishing, Switzerland, 2015 and `Sinusoidal Oscillators and Waveform Generators employing Modern Electronic Circuit Building Blocks’, Springer, Switzerland 2016; and one, entitled `Gyrators, Simulated inductors and related immittances-Realizations and applications` by IET (UK) in July 2020.

He has been functioning as an Editorial reviewer for over 35 international journals including several of IEEE (USA) and IET (UK). He has served as the Honorary Editor of Circuits and Systems for IETE Journal of Research during 1992-1995 and 2007-2008 and as the Editor-in-Chief of IETE Journal of Education during 2012-2017. He has been serving as an Associate Editor for Circuits, Systems and Signal Processing (Birkhauser-Boston, USA) since 2003 besides being one of the Editors or the Member of the Editorial boards of 5 other international journals, namely, Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Hindawi); American Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (USA); ELECTRICIA- the official journal of İstanbul University; International Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Indonesia) and the journal `Experimental Results` (Cambridge University).

Professor Senani is a Member of Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Society, USA), a Senior Member of IEEE (USA), a Life Member of ISTE (India), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), India.

Professor Senani was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) in 2008 for his contributions to Analog Integrated Circuits and Signal Processing and Analog VLSI.

He was the recipient of the Second Laureate of the 25th Khwarizmi International Award for Excellence and Dedication in Research in 2012.

Professor Senani was ranked among the Top 1% Reviewers of the World for Engineering and Interdisciplinary areas, for three consecutive years 2017, 2018 and 2019 by Publon (Web of Science Group).

In 2020, he featured in the list of Top 2% Scientists of the World in the areas of Science, Engineering and Technology, as per a study conducted by the Stanford University researchers.

On 15th September, 2021- the Engineers Day, he was conferred with the `Eminent Engineer of the year 2021 Award` by the Institution of Engineers, India (IEI).

Since 1990 onwards, his biography has continued to be included in several editions of a number of international directories of Marquis' Who's Who, International Biographical Centre, American Biographical Institute and several others.
